Top 10 Favorite Professor Twitter Feeds

Because Twitter keeps on growing in popularity, more and more people make an account or start to follow many more people. College professors, although they may seem very serious or don’t know much about online activities are actually updated with it. Many of them even have Twitter accounts, maybe so that they can learn more about the youngsters these days and be able to share a part of their lives. From the many college professors who have an account, I listed the top ten most followed. They can be in one or more category, but they sure are professors.

  1. Noreena Hertz – Noreena, among all the college professors on Twitter, is the most followed with more than 11,000 followers as of now. She is a professor on globalization, sustainability, and finance at Cambridge University. Aside from being a professor, she is an author and an advisor to CEOs, NGOs and other influential people. These are probably the reason why people love to follow her.
  2. Sree Sreenivasan – Sree has many positions and jobs in his busy life. He is a professor and dean at Columbia Junior School and an editor at a website. His flexible lifestyle allows him to allot some time in updating his Twitter feeds and make it more interesting. This contributes to the growing number of followers he has.
  3. Alec Couros – Alec works at University of Regina as a professor of educational technology and media. In the faculty of education, he is able to connect with other colleagues, giving him information on a lot of things. In turn, he can use Twitter to share to others what he learned as well as talk about his own view on things.
  4. Jeretta Horn Nord – Jeretta is one busy lady. Not only is she a professor, she is also an author and an entrepreneur. Her series of books, which is related to business, is currently in the works. Surely that eats out most of the time. Good thing she still has time left to update her account and vent out her frustrations and happy times with others.
  5. Larry Sabato – Larry has a high position in the University of Virginia. Actually, he is the director in Center for Politics, making him very knowledgeable about current events and such. Knowing this, naturally people would want to follow him. They can learn a lot about a variety of things from him, and maybe some trivia they can apply to their lives.
  6. Gary Schirr – Gary is a marketing professor in a reputable university. If our main interests are sports and music, Gary is very different from us, but on a positive note. His interests include innovation and pro-creation. He has a business where he can apply his interests for it to grow bigger. Gary is also into the financial market and service sales.
  7. Sonia Blanco – Although Sonia isn’t an American nor does she speak and understand English, that didn’t stop her from getting a lot of followers on Twitter. Sonia is a professor, a journalist, and also a blogger. Because of these three interesting categories, she has earned the interest of others.
  8. Joe Bob Hester – A University of Northern Carolina advertising professor, Joe knows how to attract people. One of the obvious results is the number of followers he has: currently, he has more than 3500 and counting. Joe is an NCAA football fan. He’s a poker player with an interest in food so he cooks regularly.
  9. Oliver T. Hellriegel – From what I see, Oliver is one of the busiest people on Twitter. He is juggling a variety of jobs, although some may only be part-time. He is a professor, a businessman, speaker, and writer. His area of expertise is strategic marketing, communications and social media. Once they see the short bio of Oliver, people will get awed by his ability to do many jobs at once.
  10. Dan Cohen – Dan is an associate professor of history at GMU. He is a director in the Center for History and New Media in that university. There could be a number of reasons why people follow him. I’m sure he is interesting and knows how to draw people towards his Twitter feeds.

Twitter is a new way for people to become like celebrities. If you are popular on Twitter, people will follow you and see whatever updates you have in life. This gives equal chances for people to get known, making Twitter one of the favorite sites today.

Online Degrees – Our Best Tips

Today there are even consortiums formed of universities, such as the undergrad degrees, which offers no courses or degrees, but simply acts as a portal for courses for thousands of universities across the U.S. and Canada. Many established colleges and universities are now offering online courses and online degree programs. The recognition of the quality of online degrees compared to on-campus degrees varies.

If you’re already working but would like to earn a degree, then the opportunity is there more so today than ever before. The time, distance and the financial hardships of a higher education really no longer exist with the arrival on the scene of online technology. It has been reported that employers felt that an employee receiving an online education degree compared favorably, in terms of knowledge learned, to someone with a resident degree.

Until recently, students enrolled in online degree programs were ineligible for federal student aid unless at least half of their program was campus based (a law established in 1992 and known as the 50-percent rule). Many people are earning a bachelor, masters or doctorate degree online in their field whether it’s an online nursing degree they want or online education degree, online psychology degree, or even an online criminal justice degree without conforming to a traditional, time consuming schedule. The Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation recognize the Distance Education and Training Council as the accrediting organization for distance learning institutions and education programs that offer online degrees.

Types of online degrees also include: business administration degree online, online computer degree, online marketing degree, online biology degree, online doctoral degree, online degree, online IT degree, electrical engineering degree online and online theology degree. Offering successful job placement by the institution, after graduating or completing your online course, may be the deciding factor in your program search. Now some of the types of degrees include: business degree online, online nursing degree, online education degree, online psychology degree, criminal justice degree online, online accounting degree, mba degree online and online teaching degree.

Types of online degrees available include: associate degree, bachelor degree, master degree and doctorate degree online. Make sure that any online credits you earn are transferable; ask the institution directly because most schools vary from course to course and with the individual school policy. Make sure the institution you’re considering is accredited; the value of the degree often rests on whether or not an institution is accredited.

You can ask the counselors or representatives handling the accredited online degree program or bachelor degree online program what the job prospects are. Try to find online forums or chat rooms with actual students who are attending the school you have in mind. Make sure to find out if you have to go to a campus to take some exams or complete some of your online coursework; would you have difficulty getting to the campus during the evenings and on weekends?

Students seeking online degrees should get proof of accreditation from a regional or national accrediting body in the US if you have any doubt. Today if you want to earn a degree if you’re working or you’re just a busy person with a busy schedule, know that it just isn’t as hard as it used to be. And there are online schools that are complete, stand-alone online universities with no campuses, football teams or fraternities.
